Where art never dies–continues to flourish in color, form, and profound meaning

Jawa Tengah, a region rich in cultural artistry, is the birthplace of Indonesia’s maestros who have initiated and breathed life into the nation’s arts. Amidst a dark period of colonization, they steadfastly upheld the value of art, their artistic spirit never wavering, remaining actively engaged in their artworks.

Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, wisely supported Indonesian visual arts during his era. He made the arts flourish, building a place for generations of new artists to come. Soekarno gathered the maestros, nurtured their exquisite creations, and showcased Indonesian visual arts on the global stage.

The irony lies in the fact that the greatness of Indonesian maestros’ works don’t receive recognition comparable to foreign artists. Neo Gallery is here with a determined mission: to ensure that our maestros are not forgotten by the younger generation. We offer a proper platform for artists who have left behind extraordinary works, with the hope that these creations will continue to be appreciated and collected by the youth.

The maestros and their works are invaluable assets to Indonesia. That’s why Neo Gallery is here, dedicated to preserving this heritage. Our commitment extends beyond the preservation of these artworks and artists; we aim to breathe new life into them and share their stories with diverse groups and generations.

Through the introduction of these artists and their creations, our goal is to inspire the younger generation and provide support to contemporary artists. We’ve carefully selected the finest masterpieces from Central Java as evidence that these works of art deserve to thrive and endure.
