NEO Gallery hosted the grand opening of its latest exhibition, "Speaking the Unspeakable,” on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. Featuring the works of 22 established and emerging Indonesian artists, the exhibition offers a profound exploration of the unconscious mind through various artistic mediums. Curated by Bambang Asrini Widjanarko, "Speaking the Unspeakable" invites viewers to embark on an introspective journey as they experience works that touch on the depths of the human psyche. The exhibition, which runs until September 1st, 2024, showcases a diverse range of artistic expressions, from figurative and narrative works to abstract and conceptual pieces.
"This exhibition is a testament to the power of art to explore the unspoken and the unseen," said Stefanus Randy Oenardi Raharjo, the director of NEO Gallery. “By bringing together the works of these talented artists, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of the human condition and encourage dialogue about the complexities of the mind.”
A Collaborative Exploration
The participating artists, including Anagard, Arahmaiani, and Entang Wiharso, have created works that reflect their unique perspectives on the unconscious. Some artists have chosen to employ poetic visualizations, while others have opted for more chaotic or abstract approaches.
The exhibition also features a collaborative piece between senior artist Arahmaiani and street artist Anagard, titled "I Love You," which incorporates Arabic Pegon script.
A Celebration of Art
The grand opening of "Speaking the Unspeakable" was attended by hundreds of art enthusiasts and collectors, who were treated to a live art performance by B. Kristiono Soewardjo. The exhibition has been met with great enthusiasm, and NEO Gallery anticipates a strong turnout throughout its run.
